The idea that cyclists are less law-abiding than drivers has been discredited everywhere it's ever been studied but also it's a deeply weird argument: if it were true, it'd still mean legal driving is statistically far more dangerous than illegal cycling? This isn't a good argument for cars?

One of the weirder vagaries of the modern politics and The Discourse in general is that people will take a personal preference they have, like not wanting to bike, and feel compelled to turn it into a broader moral/political point, regardless of how unmoored from reality they have to get.

In addition to "you're so entitled" I really hate how people tell bicyclists we're "overreacting" to the things that drivers do that aren't overtly hostile. I have ridden my bike long enough to know just how quickly impatience can turn into violence. I am well aware of how vulnerable I am.
