Too much of our Christianity teaches sin solely as an abstraction of "things we should not do," which makes the concept of "salvation" a simple formula, with the evidence being "not doing those things anymore" by the power of Jesus.

I look at it as: would I choose this person to be a friend? If not, I'm good with no, or just minimal, contact. Some say - but they're family. I don't buy into that as the basic logic. I'm not a punching bag & won't repeatedly set myself up for that, be the punches large or small.
