And don't get me started on Jesus-ween. The linguist in me cringes at the inclusion of the "w" in all of these. It should just be "e'en." The "w" is the end of Hallow. "Ween" isn't a thing. Well, not in that way.

Show PostI am always a little amused by the creative renaming of Halloween because "Halloween" **is** the Christian name of the holiday. Allhallowe'en or Alle halwe eue (Middle English: halwe - meaning "saint" or "holy person") was the day before All Saints Day. Hallow-E'en literally translates to Holy Eve.
