Show PostI started my career with P. putida in 1987 trying to purify the XylS regulator of the TOL system in a soluble/active form—to no avail. No one has succeeded thus far despite countless efforts all around the world. It would be awesome to finish my career with a soluble/active XylS & complete the cycle
Show PostOur paper on type II Panoptes is now published at PLOS Biology with new data on phage escapers - quite a step up in microbiology for our lab, led by Sabine Gruschow. Thanks to @erc.europa.eu for funding dx.plos.org/10.1371/jour...
Show Post#Phages can evade #bacterial #immunity by disrupting #antiviral signals like cA3, triggering the Panoptes defense systems. @mfwhite2.bsky.social &co show that Type II Panoptes detects cA3 loss and activates a CARF-TM effector to disrupt membranes & stop infection @plosbiology.org 🧪 buff.ly/1ixwg9v
