Students often freeze when they are in the presence of others, they think someone else will step in or that the situation will diffuse without their input. We need to instill in our students individual responsibility, and that they are vital to putting down harassment. #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

#TeacherED #SafeSchools I think, for a lack of better words, making it cool stand up for others would be effective. Praising actions that are more about being friendly and empathetic. There are students who have a lot of social influence and growing these traits in them can really help.

I think that relationships built with students matters a lot. The trust allows them to tell you what is going on. For me I have a great relationship with the school guidance counselor so we try to think of ways together. One thing that was effective this year was peer mediation.
