In my experience this attitude is almost always an excuse people use to justify their own laziness. Politics isn't a spectator sport and positive change takes work but if you affect sneering cynicism you can excuse yourself from not doing any of it while still feeling morally superior.

I think, at this point, it's generous describing them as doomers. A simpler explanation is they're actively looking to sabotage Dem prospects -- either for GOP purposes, or for an "I want to burn the whole Dem party to the ground and bring on socialist paradise" agenda. Either way, disregard them.
