I feel like there are parallels to climate change and veganism in AI individually you're tempted and encouraged to do something that you know is immoral, but you feel like you can't affect things much anyway so why not enjoy the personal benefits while you can, especially if it's become the norm

Back in 2021, I led the PCMI Undergraduate Faculty Program (abbreviated and online — covid times). Just today, four of the participants posted a preprint that arose from that program characterizing which quadratic forms of small rank arise as 𝔸¹-Milnor numbers! arxiv.org/abs/2610.14506 🧮

This crystallized some loose thoughts I've had. My students often have 2 or more part time jobs. They want to learn but they need to maximize time. They can smell low-value busywork and know that's what AI is supposed to be for. Show that you value their time and want them to learn and they respond.
