and if this is news to you, that is likely because the US and western powers decided after WW2 that they agreed with the nazis about queer people, and never liberated them from the camps So much of the history about the holocaust glosses over large parts of how it started

Queer people don't even get to enjoy the over-simplified narrative of America being the liberating good guys in WW2. Because it's definitionally not true for us. America agreed with the Nazis about us. I don't even know where to begin putting that grief every time I'm reminded of it.
