Well the only answer is because the media is drowned in racist flith or far left nonsense that they've already internalised she's not English. But if they already thought that before she said, that means they don't see any Black or Asian Brit as truly English

Fundamentally, given all the evidence that voters value local candidates it's weird so many ethnic minority rightists & the wider media (including Badenoch!) have got themselves in a headspace where they think it's not disqualifying to say they reject the identity that nearly all their voters share

Sunder does more to combat racism in Britain than I ever can, but I think part of the part of the problem is he overly wedded to the idea that Englishness & Britishness are distinct to the point he can't see that the reason Rees-Mogg has rejected ethnonationalism is he rejects that distinction
