This was 25 years ago, and we were definitely not "under budget" or "cheaper." The project managed to get big investment and customers b/c the guys who started it had previously been part of Oracle in its early days and had huge credibility. It turned out they didn't know what they were doing!

Whether you teach grad students or fifth-graders, you have to know how to handle the kids who are ready to put you on blast, often for their own entertainment. You have to deflect them hopkido-style, maintain your authority, and keep everyone in the room humming. That's pedagogy.
