(in my mind, there are two distinct brainchild "eras"--the "premodern period" from high school, when I came up with the main cast but the central conceit was VERY different, and the "modern period" starting in the latter half of college when I redrafted everything into basically what it is today)

#oldtober rediscovered these color keys i made in college during what i consider the "early modern era" of Brainchild development, hah...it's interesting to look at these again and try to remember the setpieces and scenes i had in mind at the time. the parking structure is still there :^)

i love tracing. i love googling 'man sitting in armchair reading a newspaper' and just drawing over it because it's one corner of one panel out of a thousand and Who Cares. it's fine. i do not gain spiritual enlightenment from doing it the hard way and it looking bad. i'm good at the important parts
