9/ A vast amount of data & population trends included in the indicators are from bird surveys organised by @btobirds.bsky.social like @bbs-birds.bsky.social, @webs-gsmp.bsky.social & @smp-seabirds.bsky.social on behalf of partnerships with @rspbscience.bsky.social & @jncc.bsky.social. Thank you all!
Show Post1/ Nature is in peril. Drastic declines and specialist species struggling is what the Wild Bird Indicators, using BTO data & published by Defra, show. Here’s what we know ⬇️ The All Bird Species Index shows 19% declines in the UK since 1970. This comprises 132 species. 📉 #Ornithology

This weekend is the International Golden Plover Census🌍🪶 If you fancy another outing to your WeBS site, we would love for you to do another count so we can feed more golden plover data into the census, or you can log your plovers in BirdTrack if you want to go elsewhere!📋 #UKBirding #Ornithology

This weekend, 17-18 October, is the International Golden Plover Census. WeBS data will be included in the census, but if you see any flocks of Golden Plover away from wetlands and are able to record a count, we would be very grateful if you could enter this to BirdTrack. Photo: Liz Cutting / BTO
