PBM reimbursement is worth looking at, but i's only one part of the cost picture. PBMs negotiate pharmacy rates and benefits for health plans, while pharmacies also face staffing, drug costs and other operating expenses. Looking at full picture matters before putting all the cost pressure on PBMs.

Arkansas is trying to kick PBM owned pharmacies out of the state. A federal judge already stopped it. The article says tens of pharmacies and millions of prescriptions get disrupted. Local stores wanting protection is not the same as lower drug prices. Patients still need a place to pick up the bag.

Reviewing the PBM is what a buyer does. Savings are in the contract. The county still needs a pharmacy benefit. Cutting the manager does not cut the manufacturer’s list.

Bipartisan dislike is not a price cut. Barring a PBM from owning a pharmacy is how Tennessee ends up closing stores, not how a drugmaker lowers its list price. Patients still need a counter.
