the pro-israel people also just seem in denial about the state of american public opinion. like, if a *texas democrat* is talking like this virtually anyone else in the country could use much harsher language.

There's serious hesitancy to admit that democracies deserve blame when they produce results like this, especially when it's an effective ethnostate and acknowledging its failure will be reflexively viewed as a criticism of the ethnicity rather than the actual demos.

Personally, I think what really threatens American Jews is insisting our safety is dependent on denying what the whole world sees, that the Israeli gov committed war crimes against Palestinian civilians. Force people to think protecting Jews means denying reality, and they will stop caring about us.

Not at all a novel observation but if pro Israel people are not capable of seeing that Talarico et al are actually bending over backwards to limit their criticism of Israeli policy to one man and that this is the most charitable light for Israel possible then they are simply doomed.
