Yeah. It was originally coined because the otome subreddit told lesbians to make their own term because otome was het only. Which isn't true. Amare was born & it covered otome & games that didn't fit the sub's rules but still felt "otome" in nature.

There's not enough space here to properly convey all the bullshit I've seen wrt amare, but imo it never took off bc even when it was first conceived there was never a true consensus for its meaning.
