The thing about planning a trip like this with my elderly, active mom is we will clearly never go to Egypt or Istanbul ever again, so it's not worth being cheap or rushed. Frugal about some things is fine. I will take many photos with a DSLR and brag about the solar eclipse for the rest of my life.
