It’s even wilder if you look at the sociological context. The kind of individualism that Johnson describes would be quite radical and bizarre to Jesus’ 1st century Judean audience.

Jack, I have run into many conservative Christians who hold the “it’s all about the individual” view, but I wonder if Johnson’s view doesn’t come more from his association with Christian’s nationalists than from the SBC.
