that's fair, I still get the sentiment too. sometimes I feel weird for being a big Kirby 2 fan even though the first time I played it was the 3DS VC, but that was like a decade ago now!! there's no hard limit to how many things you can like!!! I just hope more people figure this out

I mean my first time playing Mega Man was with X3 because my mind as a kid saw it was made by Capcom so I thought it was an upgrade of the first X game. 😭 That should tell you how blind I was to the series I was at that time.

The internet has poisoned so many peoples minds it's hard to think you can just become a fan of something, a lot of people believe you had to be a fan from the beginning or else you're just pretending, which stems from a lot of old fans chasing out new fans for not being "in the know"

This isn't to say you shouldn't seek out the older stuff you haven't yet tried. Especially if it's important to the series such as Dragon Ball OG or JoJo Part 1 just don't feel discouraged to watch or play something out of order if there's a specific point in the series you're interested in.

I cannot imagine thinking you need to play the first game to be a fan. Guess the majority of Final Fantasy fans are larping 😭
