As an officer, there is a limited time you get to talk like this. It's when you are a young LT at the smoke pit and you want to shoot the shot with Joe. As a FG you are an adult. You don't talk like this even at the proverbial smoke pit, much less to the public on a social media platform.

Anyway tldr I'll never match the valor my Grandfather displayed on the battlefield in Europe. And frankly, I don't want to. I'd rather emulate the life he led after the war, raising a family, having hobbies, volunteering in the community. I think maybe more GWOT vets should consider this approach

it's a sliding scale amd certainly the ecosystem in general is massively unhealthy, but given how they've responded to critics I believe it's become actively malicious at least with folks on the upper end like reed and caraballo
