This study was nuts but actually there are trials which do show mortality benefit of some vaccines within 42 days albeit in specific populations. For example: www.bmj.com/content/390/...
Show PostThere is more than one study showing similar effect to the India trial so it wasn't totally unexpected. For example in this smaller study than the Indian trial (a few hundred kids not a few thousand) BCG again reduced serious (non-TB) infection: www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...
