and just to be clear, i'm not advocating for animators to be paid less. i make below the poverty line depending on the month, and the labor creep i get stuck with makes my union friends' heads spin around on their necks. but if the money's not coming in, we need actual production solutions

give this a fraction of the usual $100k+ per episode, suddenly the creator can full-time this, you can hire a small crew at union wages/benefits, and now you're getting episodes out at a reasonable pace. it doesn't look like any given action series you grew up on, but it looks great!

disney looks like disney because a bunch of money comes in from the top down. same with classic CN or classic nick or saturday morning cartoons or any of that. if we're not getting steven spielberg coming down from on high to dump cash into pet projects for fun, then our shows shouldn't aim for that
