Yeah, I've certainly seen this done to trans women many times. But in this case there's no way of knowing whether the person he's talking about actually does use "they" or not without additional information.

So in your post you've said "her" media taste, while the ex says "they" make up for it etc. Is this just a "she/they are both fine" situation where you've made different choices, or is it that thing where people start they/themming trans women when they don't like them?
