The joke you want it to be is a "lol the lady doth protest too much" where the humor comes from Trump's hypocrical covering it up. That's not this joke. The joke, as delivered, is pointing at stereotypes & going "lol gay, am I right?" It's lazy & OP even admits that's the punchline.
