And if closing LA County Jail does not feel more achievable than abolishing ICE then that raises some difficult questions about whether our elected officials actually control the government employees with guns in our cities or what we're OK with if the camps promise to provide us safety.

33 people have died in LA County jail so far this year. I say this not to detract from the horror of ICE detention but to challenge people who rightly refer to ICE detention as concentration camps to direct the same fury at the much more achievable near-term goal of closing camps in blue cities.
