@fatpaulscholes.bsky.socialSo it's been a while (again), BlueSky. Making up for it with this stunner! Today at #Landsort Bird Obs 🇸🇪 we caught a ♂ Arctic/hoary #redpoll (Acanthis flammea exilipes). It may not have species status anymore, but it's goooooorgeous. Photos: Johan Rosén. 🦅 #birds #BirdRinging #BirdObservatory
Show PostAlongside high counts of commoner species (up to 670 Blackcaps!!) and scarcer birds they have been a few great highlights! Including a Greenish Warbler (✅ 364) and a self-found Little Bunting (✅ 365) which bring my YearList to #328
Show PostI've spent much of my past few weeks birding in Beauduc an isolated "island" village in Camargue which forms an incredible migrant trap and is accessible via a rough track across 3kms of salt flats which separates it from the "mainland" ebird.org/tripreport/5...
Show PostFinally, a bit of action from the West, with a Red-eyed Vireo found in the village (Fajã Grande, Flores) and some new ducks and shorebirds around (Wood & Ring-necked ducks, Spotted & WR sandpipers). Surely there is more to find.
Show PostThank you, Mark. Quite similar primary pattern there too 👍
