I think the message might be "Vote Republican and stay on Trump's good side." And in non-coastal California, that might be an effective message. It's like living in a mob-controlled neighborhood. Under those circumstances, you don't fight. You pay the protection money.

You're lucky. Same thing here in New York - the GOP could easily win statewide elections if it half-tried and picked candidates in the Charlie Baker/Larry Hogan mold, but it doesn't.

It continues to make me sad that Ro Khanna used VC and tech money to push Mike Honda out of Congress. Honda was a childhood Japanese internee who became a high school teacher, congressman, and staunch ally of labor and LGBTQ ppl. Khanna is … wooing a white supremacist anti-trans bigot for his money.
