The entire modern police framework fundamentally sucks at protection or deterrence. No matter how many tanks they drive and take up the city budget, the police do fuck all to actually prevent this kind of thing because they are only concerned with self preservation

That entire view needs to be changed to police are expected to put their bodies on the line for civilians. That profession should be about sacrificing to protect others, NOT pulling OT sitting at construction sites and brutalizing brown people. But of course, cops are slave catchers at heart

"Warrior training" for cops teaches them to be cowards. Everyone is a potential enemy and their first duty is to protect themselves.
