Fair enough. For me, "the Commonwealth" usually works just fine. Agree that attacking the other side personally is rarely effective, and I stay away from it as much as I can.

Maybe Maryland has it too, but it is definitely a Mass thing. Every time someone does it to me, I have to stop myself from doing a double take. I usually just go with "the Commonwealth" or "opposing counsel." I'm not the ADA's friend, for sure.
