The time to stop doing this was immediately in 2017, when Trump sent his daughter to sit alongside Christine Lagarde & Angela Merkel at a G20 summit. But everyone pretended that was fine, & this is the logical & inevitable endpoint. Other, more serious choices were, & remain, readily available.

There are so many parts of the world which are designed by big corporations to fuck us over and tie up our time with tedious, life-sapping admin. They rely on our being busy or distressed and taking our eyes off a ball. If an agentic AI can take some of that away from me, I will be totally thrilled.

I am sceptical about big claims for AI. But I must admit: when I listened to this podcast with Ethan Mollick and he talked about using AI to automatically move your savings so that you are always getting the highest rate, I made an actual small audible moan of yearning. pca.st/episode/bf0f...
