I'm 49 and until Friday the closest death I experienced was my 94 y.o. Opa. 2 days ago, I lost a dear friend. She was brilliant, hilarious, and caring. She had the most insane laugh and she was not afraid to use it. With no warning, she is gone and I'm absolutely heartbroken.

It is Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and it is almost the one year anniversary of my layoff. I am grateful for my family, friends, my dog, as well as the time and space I gave myself to recover from burnout. I miss my friends in the US a lot, but I am grateful for the life I now have in Toronto.
