I've been to many political functions in that hotel. It's one of the most used venues in the DC area. The shooter blew past the first checkpoint on the floor above the gala, but he never approached the event. But also, anyone can check into a hotel with a big suitcase. It's kind of how hotels work.
Show PostDon’t you think it’s strange that the White House Correspondents’ Association an organization of such importance would allow someone to bring a long gun past security and into the building?

Is there someone dead in the lobby or is there someone in custody? Was the person armed or not? Did he make it into the ballroom or not? Usually there should be a pretty wide grace period on finding this out, but there are literally hundreds of reporters in the room and nobody knows shit.

Reports are that a shooter is dead outside the Correspondent’s Dinner. If a gunman actually got that close to one of the most secure events of the year, this is yet another inexcusable security lapse.
