I’m sorry, but after tens of thousands of jobs are being lost in the university sector, the government can fuck off trying to use a couple of hundred jobs being created as part of a justification for oil drilling in the North Sea. They don’t get to pretend jobs matter to them any more.

Tried something new yesterday that i think went well: establishing antiracism not as procedures but as basic historical literacy. Began STEM “EDI” event in Edinburgh with a lecture on structural racism as a continuous thread connecting Edward Long, Eric Williams & Jason Arday.

i don't want to do sciences vs humanities discourse, honestly, but it is so often asserted that humanities writing is needlessly verbose and badly expressed, and that science writing is clear and to-the-point, and based on my experience this afternoon on PubMed that is absolutely not true at all
