Jump scared when I heard a knocking in the bathroom. Heard it again, ah, it's coming from the window, probably a squirrel. Opened the blinds and it was a Steller's Jay! I'm about to go vote in the municipal election and the Steller Jay is the official bird of British Columbia. Providence?

My issue with AI in the retro community specifically is it's allowing mass amounts of slop to enter. Retro development had a natural price of entry that meant fewer games came out. If you look at the output of the people using AI, Outrun 2026 isn't that great and the same guy decided to port

Yep, it’s like the recent Elite on the MZ-700 I mentioned the other day. It’s not a great port, it’s sprung up out of nowhere, doesn’t use any colour (on the 700!!!) and doesn’t handle the gfx very well. You can tell it’s AI and only a small amount of effort has gone into it.

I'm not talented enough to write retrogames, but I'd never use an AI to make one for me. I can, just about, write emulators. I still can't believe that someone used AI to create a Sharp MZ emulator ... I've had lots of fun & learning creating PicoMZ the slow way over the last couple of years!
