ok sry 2 get rly mean for a second, man, for a fandom that prides itself on being au fait w medieval history & accuracy re. the text, it sure is RUBBISH at picking up on the v clear actual 18th/19th century preoccupations of the text & it drives me fucking nuts. as an amateur student of those eras.
