In August 2008 the Russian Federation came to the aid of separatists in Georgian South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which started the Russo-Georgian War. Georgia's boundaries were internationally recognized, and by the UN Charter, borders are inevitable, even if the cause is just (just ask "Kurdistan")
