I agree, mini publics basically can't be scaled. I see their value basically as idealized focus groups.

I emphatically agree. A longstanding line of critique of the Fishkin approach is that the info does most of the opinion-change work. There's a clear way to test it in their design, too; they usually send info packets to participants after selection & initial screening but before deliberation...

So, if the info does the work, you'd see it in changed views between initial screening & receipt/processing of provided info and before deliberation. I don't know if that's been tested. Maybe @dwmbarker.bsky.social knows
