There is a reason so much animation became outsourced to miscellaneous countries. A big part of it is the cost of living crisis. If everyone were paid properly and housing/medical/etc affordable the amount ppl have would be much higher and the cost of making anything would not seem nearly so large

I'll never forget the fucking audacity of some people (children mostly, I hope) getting upset over the last episode of TADC being theater exclusive for 2 weeks. It went on to make 38 million dollars. Do these entitled shitheads think the studio would have ever made that much money selling plushies?

Crazy part about the merch argument is that it's not too uncommon to see folks begging for smaller things to have merch because we just want to have neat stuff from the thing wel like. Now when someone says "Merch helps us make a new episode", it's apparently akin to sacrificng a newborn for profit

Too many people genuinely have no damn idea the work that goes into anything they engage with. I wholly believe a lot of folks never learn to understand creative arts as anything beyond "that thing kids do for 20 minutes when they're bored" even when they see adults do it for a living. Infuriating.

disney looks like disney because a bunch of money comes in from the top down. same with classic CN or classic nick or saturday morning cartoons or any of that. if we're not getting steven spielberg coming down from on high to dump cash into pet projects for fun, then our shows shouldn't aim for that
