But the weirdest and most nerve-wracking mysteries were the "structural" members of dubious quality, placement and utility. Some of them only *seemed* to be holding stuff up, but on closer inspection turned out to be free-floating 2x4s, not anchored to anything.

For a long time the neighbors had this lovely Great Pyrenees who scares off coyotes and guards the street. I hadn't seen him in a while and feared the worst. Tonight a big white wooly shape confirmed that the little bear of the neighborhood stays somewhere colder in the summer and is back on patrol.
