in bloodstained a villager solemnly asks you to retrieve mementos she can bury with her neighbors slain by demons. one such memento is a really good sword dropped by a specific enemy, and in exchange she gives you a pair of clown shoes that squeaks with every step. this is the essence of video games

We were also cracking up about how they made them purple for no reason. I already knew about how different the art style was and so in the starting scene where everyone is in the cells I was like "pop quiz: four of these characters are returning characters can you guess which ones"
