I disagree. I don't want to think Tommy is hopeless. El-Sayed took him seriously and spoke to him as one adult to another, which is what a Tommy needs in order to think clearly about his own mistaken beliefs. Otherwise he'll just want to hit back harder.

Dr. El-Sayed's response was masterful. Still, I kinda wish that when Tommy walks out in humiliation the crowd of retired school teacher, small business owners, and other literates had stomped Tommy like a MAGA crowd does when they when someone weaker than they are disagrees with them.
