i wear my colored pencils down to nubs, and the best way to do this is with a pencil extender! you can make your own with a straw or rolled-up cardstock, but it can be a pain sometimes i have a ton of these: www.dickblick.com/products/koh... but i don't love how the metal part feels on my fingies
