Show Post#LitHodgepodge 18 Here's one that might not have a clear answer, but it plagues me none the less. How do you decide when you are done? I can tweak and fuss forever. I might end up doing that. It's never perfect, of course, but when is it good enough? Is there a way to tell?
Show PostDunno if this is a good way to do it, but my metric is "if the tweaks and fussing aren't making it better, just different, it's time to call it." Like if I notice I'm going back and forth between two equally okay pieces of prose across drafts, it's probably about as good as *I* can make it at least.
Show PostFor me: When you find yourself fussing over details that have little bearing on the story, that's done. It's probably overdone. If you've closed the loops and everyone has their stories wrapped up, and you're just tweaking things for the sake of tweaking, you're well past done.
Show Post#PretendPanel With my current Talitha Harbor WIP (since I'm also off on a writing side quest, ha): There isn't a deep message aside from, life is complicated. Even if someone doesn't make the same choices as you, it doesn't always mean they're bad choices. 1/
