Penny Rock - I spent the morning in the woods. Despite this little example, the overwhelming colour of the canopy is still green. Those beech leaves which had turned a few days ago are now mostly on the floor after the recent winds. #capturewithconfidence #lakedistrict #grasmere #wordsworth

Flavoplaca maritima: nationally notable rocky-shore #lichen. Easily confused with common F marina, but usually yellower in colour with 'waxier' look. Also never in orange (mesic-supralittoral) zone where F marina congregates, but rather higher up shore in grey (xeric-supralittoral) zone. Scotland.
