I put up a "beware of the dog" sign after we were burgled. Our Irish Wolfhound put her paws on the burglar's shoulders as he tried to get in through a forced window. She licked his face until he backed out again. Her tongue obscured his face, so the cops couldn't use the video.

I go to a particular railway station pasty shop often enough the staff know me and get my usual order ready when they see me approaching. They usually stop for a brief chat and sometimes I get a bonus chicken goujon in the bag. It’s a small kindness that makes my day a little brighter ☺️

Reminds me of when I used to work in Dublin and would stay at a Travelodge before going home early the next morning. The staff in the diner got to know me and would have a curry and a pint ready for me - it made my solo trips a bit more enjoyable.

Worked in a lot of bars when a customer walks in and you casually ask "the usual" incredible how that makes people feel the "cheers effect"

There was one guy who, when walking his dog at night, usually came in to the pub where I worked for a swift gin, lime and lemonade. I could see him coming through a side window, so usually had it ready by the time he got to the bar. The look on his face the first time I did it was fabulous.
