This reminds me of someone I knew who was obsessed with Japan and would visit regularly to go to comicon etc, but only ever learned Japanese words and refused to learn grammar. So she'd speak to Japanese people using sentences with English grammar: "Watashi suki Prince of Tennis!" It was sooo weird.
