I try to be open-minded. To engage in healthy discussion. To be welcoming to all people, from all backgrounds. But if you say you're "hype" instead of hyped, and/or if you say you're "bias" instead of biased, I don't think we can be friends. Or even acquaintances. Lines have to be drawn somewhere.

I met with a couple grad students today whose theses / research I’m supervising (presently I only teach classes in the spring but thesis advising requires some advance work). I loved teaching my undergrads but it is SO intellectually invigorating to work with people who are mature and focused
