One of the really fascinating things about Charlie Kirk is that his own people’s response to his death was so nakedly opportunistic that it’s like oh, ok, this guy is fair game for literally anything, he’s an object, and now his soul is trapped inside Grok for eternity.
Show PostIt's al kinda....meaningless, really. It's people obsessed with fighting bigots and grifters who will never actually care, while never really engaging with art itself beyond a surface level. Just circular fighting without point. Like, guys, just read Ichi the Witch, please. You'll thank me.
Show PostSee, what people don't understand is that the reason why this is is because a sizeable chuck of people need some way to create a battle manga which won't develop a conservative fanbase. They failed with One Piece, and now they're constantly trying to find The One which won't attract the chuds.
Show PostYou can really see this with Chainsaw Man in specific, where the entire conversation pretty much turned into a debate on how it was somehow a critique of the genre and provably Not Like Those Other Girls - because referring to it *as* a battle manga seemed equivalent to concession.
Show PostIt's all an extension of the larger narrative surrounding JP media in leftist spaces. That anime and manga is at least semi-affiliated with the online-right, and thus the goal of the culture war is to eliminate them. The fiction cannot just be fiction, it must be the battleground.
