Ok, crazy observation here: I got these stick insects, and two had a missing front limb. After about a month I notice a stub of limb reappearing. Over the next week they continue extending! But we all know that insects only regrow limbs between moults. Friends- I saw no moults. WHAT'S GOING ON?!

Fun fact: it costs $270 out of pocket to get a maternal RSV vaccine in BC. This despite UBC study in The Lancet finding that newborns under 6 months made up 45% of all RSV hospitalizations in Canada from 2017-2020. And RSV hospitalizations doubled post-pandemic. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Day 12 - L for the magnificent Latrodectus - black widows, perhaps the most iconic of all spiders. This large female L. erythromelas (taxonomy still debated) was foud under a stone in Hyderabad, India. #arachtober @arachtober.bsky.social @britishspiders.bsky.social
