“I should only pay taxes for things I use” is a fun precept to adopt after you’ve stopped using services that were funded by the full tax base — you would have needed to pay much much more when your kids were in school if seniors hadn’t been pitching in with property taxes back then!

I wasn't naive enough to think it'd be the opposite, but I was hoping for even a *slight* change. Of course, it doesn't help that I am going through a very stressful time at the moment. I'm hoping that once things settle down and I'm able to breathe, I'll be better able to take stock.
