Mum had a fall* and I’m home sorting out consequences, one of which is that her little house with its steep staircase is no longer suitable. Walking into the house, I’m overwhelmed with sadness. The meticulous tidiness, the photos and keepsakes, and she is never coming back. *She’s fine
Show PostThroughout my life some things have been much cheaper than I anticipated (washing machines), others much costlier (curtains!), but finding out that one week of respite care in a Suffolk care home is £1,950 has blown my mind in a way that hard drugs could not.

The chivalrous thing to do is to just sit there and starve whilst watching the wife enjoying all the luxuries £35 worth of breakfast can provide.
